Chelsea Bews

I was born in Auckland and have lived here all my life. I initially studied Visual Art at Auckland University of Technology and then went on to gain a Postgraduate Diploma in Second Language Teaching at Waikato University in 2013. Since then I have taught children and adults of various levels with different goals. I have been teaching at Kingston since May 2016.

My favourite things about teaching English as a second language are getting to know people from different cultures, learning from my students and seeing them progress and achieve their goals. My teaching style is communication focused and I emphasize language that is useful in my students’ lives. In my classes, everyone is encouraged to practice and talk in a friendly and welcoming environment.

In my free time I love travelling and hearing about other people’s travelling experiences. In particular, I love hiking and exploring New Zealand’s diverse natural landscapes and learning about our unique ecology.
