Three new or amended visa policies offer better access to New Zealand for citizens of the Republic of Korea. The policies were agreed to alongside the New Zealand – Korea free trade agreement.
The new and amended policies are:
- An increase to the the number of places available under the Korean Working Holiday Scheme, from 1800 to 3000
- Access to the Primary Sector Trainee visa category, allowing 50 Korean citizens to take part in vocational training and work experience in New Zealand each year
- A new Special Work Category available to 200 Korean citizens per year working in specified occupations.
These changes are effective from 20 December 2015.
